Recently the Iola Police Department has been investigating a rash of car burglaries. There have been some arrest made in these cases but we are still looking for items taken. Two items in particular are a .22 caliber revolver and a .38 caliber revolver. On October 12th between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. unknown persons entered a residence around 1400 and Arizona Rd, Humboldt, KS. Items taken during the home burglary is an HP Pavilion laptop computer with a 17 inch screen, 3 jewelry boxes containing miscellaneous jewelry, a peanut butter jar containing about $100 in loose change, $25 in currency, 5 commemorative Knights of Columbus belt buckles, 1 wagon wheel belt buckle, wildlife camera, 3 gun magazines, brown and red brief case, Knights of Columbus checkbook, and a certificate of deposit. The three jewelry boxes were 2 pencil box style and chest of drawers style. Some of the items taken were a double ladder rosary with pink stones, losts of ear rings, assorted jewelry with black onyx hearts, dream catchers jewelry, silver necklaces with silver crosses, red heart ear rings, blood donor awards on ribbons, and a wedding ring.

On or about the 16th of May it was discovered that six different cars parked on the car lot at Siggs Used Cars, located at 1721 East Street, had been entered and the stereos removed from the cars. Several of these vehicles had windows broken out in an attempt to enter the vehicles.
On May 12th at approximately 8:00 p.m. a red Chevy truck approximately 2004 model pulled into Jump Start Travel Center and pumped 20 gallons of fuel into the truck. When the driver was done pumping the fuel he laid the pump handle down on the ground and left without paying. Between the hours of 5:00 p.m. on February 6th, 2011 and 5:00 a.m. on February 7th, 2011 unknown persons entered a locked truck parked at 209 N. Third Street in the city of Iola. The suspects used a prying device to enter the truck. The suspects went through the truck and removed some cash from the glove box of the truck. The truck is a 2005 Ford pickup.

In the morning of Friday January 21, 2011 between 6:10 a.m. and 6:25 a.m. an unknown person removed a 1995 Chevy van white in color from the driveway at 107 N. Third Street in Iola. This vehicle was recovered a short time later in Humboldt.
Sometime after 1:45 a.m. and before 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday January 25, 2011 an unknown person removed a 1999 Pontiac Bonneville dark green in color from the driveway of 218 N. First Street in Iola. This vehicle was recovered a few hours later by the Humboldt Police Department.
The second vehicle was recovered about a block away from the location where the first vehicle stolen was recovered.
On Tuesday January 25, 2011 in the early morning hours the Humboldt police department had a pickup taken from a garage where the garage door was open. That vehicle was also recovered a short time later.
All of these vehicles had keys left in them and were unlocked.
